Arrived in Boulder Aug. 15 in rain and fog. Spent the first night at the Foot of the Mountain Motel, which I took to be hyperbole at first (like the Seven Seas Motel in Bismarck, N.D.). But it was at the foot of the mountain actually and there was a temporary river running not 8 feet from my window (and about 3 feet above floor level, making me wonder if a flood was imminent).
Move to higher ground on Saturday; in temporary cabin at Chautauqua Park, a National Historical Monument. Is it a travel writer's dream, to live in a tourist attraction? Or a nightmare? We'll see.
